A ceremonial reception marking the conclusion of Ambassador Valeriu Chiveri’s diplomatic mission
A solemn reception was held in Kyiv to mark the completion of the diplomatic mission of His Excellency Valeriu Chiveri. He is the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Moldova to Ukraine. The event brought together representatives of the diplomatic corps, Moldovan and Ukrainian officials, parliamentarians, business leaders, and members of civil society.
This occasion was not only a farewell to the Ambassador but also a celebration of the enduring Moldova – Ukraine partnership. This partnership continues to strengthen across all levels. It ranges from intergovernmental to regional cooperation, despite the challenges of wartime.
Honoring outstanding representatives of Moldovan diplomacy
During the ceremony, the international publication Kyiv Diplomatic & Magazine presented special awards to distinguished members of the diplomatic community.
The title of «Best Diplomat of 2024» was awarded to His Excellency Valeriu Chiveri. His four years of dedicated service significantly contributed to the advancement of bilateral relations between Moldova and Ukraine.
At the same time, the title of «Best Honorary Consul of 2025» was presented to Sergii Stetsiuk, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Moldova in Dnipro. He was recognized for his active civic, diplomatic, and humanitarian engagement. His efforts aimed at strengthening Moldovan – Ukrainian cooperation, particularly during martial law.
Appreciation for dedication and support for Ukraine
Chairman of the Interparliamentary Friendship Group Ukraine – Moldova, Mykhailo Radutskyi, and Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Policy, Oleksandr Merezhko, expressed deep gratitude to Ambassador Chiveri for his effective diplomatic work. They appreciated his personal commitment to peace. Moreover, he provided steadfast support for Ukraine during one of the most difficult periods in its modern history.
Speakers emphasized that Ambassador Chiveri’s service exemplified genuine partnership diplomacy. This diplomacy is founded on mutual respect, cooperation, and shared European values.
Moldova – a trusted ally and strategic partner of Ukraine
The Republic of Moldova remains committed to supporting Ukraine and upholding shared democratic values.
The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova adopted a declaration affirming its support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Moldova’s participation in the Peace Summit in Switzerland and the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin further demonstrated Chișinău’s consistent engagement in international peace and reconstruction efforts.

Expanding Moldova’s diplomatic presence in Ukraine
Despite the ongoing challenges of war, Moldova continues to strengthen its diplomatic presence in Ukraine. In recent years, new honorary consulates have been opened in Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and Dnipro. These cities have become symbols of resilience, solidarity, and mutual respect between the two nations.
This expansion reflects Moldova’s political solidarity, deep friendship with Ukraine, and shared aspiration for integration within the European family of nations.
Remarks by Honorary Consul Sergii Stetsiuk
Upon receiving the award, Sergii Stetsiuk, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Moldova in Dnipro, emphasized that this recognition represents a shared commitment. It is focused on strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries:
“This award is not only a personal honor but also a symbol of collective effort by the entire consular community, which today stands for partnership, humanitarian cooperation, and European values. We remain dedicated to uniting our peoples. Our aim is to support their shared pursuit of peace, development, and mutual support”, stated Mr. Stetsiuk.
