Moldova and Ukraine Strengthen Healthcare Cooperation

Moldova and Ukraine are strengthening healthcare cooperation, with a focus on the exchange of medical expertise, professional mobility, pharmaceutical partnerships and closer collaboration in medical education.

On 22 September 2026, Victor Chirilă, Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Ukraine, met with Viktor Liashko, Minister of Health of Ukraine, to discuss opportunities for further developing bilateral cooperation in healthcare and strengthening professional ties between the two countries.

The health and well-being of citizens remain a shared priority for Moldova and Ukraine. Expanding cooperation in this field can create new opportunities for knowledge exchange, support healthcare professionals and contribute to stronger healthcare systems in both countries.

Moldova – Ukraine Cooperation in Healthcare

The meeting focused on several areas for the further development of Moldova – Ukraine healthcare cooperation, including the exchange of professional experience and medical expertise, as well as greater mobility for healthcare professionals.

Closer professional cooperation can provide medical specialists with additional opportunities to exchange practical knowledge, share expertise and strengthen professional connections between Moldova and Ukraine.

The discussions also addressed opportunities to develop cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector and strengthen healthcare-related logistics links between the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.

These areas represent an important part of bilateral healthcare cooperation and can contribute to closer professional and institutional ties between the two countries.

Medical Education and Academic Mobility

Medical education and academic cooperation were also key topics of the meeting. Victor Chirilă and Viktor Liashko discussed opportunities to establish joint programmes between medical education institutions in Moldova and Ukraine.

Particular attention was given to expanding academic mobility for students, educators and researchers, creating opportunities for future healthcare professionals to gain new knowledge and experience.

Developing joint educational initiatives can also support the exchange of teaching expertise, strengthen cooperation between medical education institutions and create new professional connections between the two countries.

Pharmaceutical Cooperation Between Moldova and Ukraine

Expanding cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector represents another promising area of the Moldova – Ukraine healthcare partnership.

The discussions covered opportunities to strengthen professional and logistical links between the two countries, supporting closer cooperation between relevant institutions and stakeholders in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.

Together with knowledge exchange and professional mobility, pharmaceutical cooperation can contribute to the broader development of bilateral relations in healthcare.

Partnership for Health and Well-Being

The meeting reaffirmed the shared interest of Moldova and Ukraine in further strengthening healthcare cooperation and developing practical initiatives that can benefit citizens in both countries.

Cooperation in healthcare goes beyond institutional dialogue. It creates opportunities for medical professionals to exchange knowledge, for students and researchers to build new connections, and for healthcare institutions to develop stronger partnerships.

The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Moldova in Dnipro welcomes the continued development of this dialogue. Cooperation centred on people’s health and well-being is an important part of the good-neighbourly relations, mutual support and long-standing partnership between the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.
