Ambassador Victor Chirilă and Deputy Minister Serhii Derkach Discuss Key Infrastructure Projects and Regional Connectivity
On 7 July 2026, Victor Chirilă, Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Ukraine, held a working meeting with Serhii Derkach, Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, who is responsible for land transport development and the modernization of state border crossing points.
The meeting reaffirmed the strong strategic partnership between the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine and highlighted both countries’ shared commitment to developing modern transport infrastructure, strengthening cross-border cooperation, and advancing their European integration agendas.
Accelerating Moldova – Ukraine Infrastructure Projects
During the meeting, the two officials reviewed the progress of key bilateral infrastructure projects and discussed ways to accelerate their implementation, improve coordination, and enhance transport connectivity between the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.
Particular attention was given to the modernization of transport infrastructure and border crossing points, which play a vital role in facilitating trade, improving logistics, strengthening economic cooperation, and ensuring the efficient movement of people and goods across the Moldova–Ukraine border.
Strengthening Coordination and Crisis Management Cooperation
The participants also highlighted the high level of cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine in crisis management and acknowledged the effectiveness of existing coordination mechanisms.
Both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining close institutional dialogue, expanding bilateral cooperation, and further developing established partnership frameworks that have demonstrated their effectiveness in responding to current regional challenges.
