Modernization and Digitalization of Consular Services for Citizens of the Republic of Moldova Abroad

Enhancing Consular Services for Moldovans Abroad!

On March 17, 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, in partnership with the Public Services Agency, introduced 40 cutting-edge biometric data collection stations. This marks a major step forward in the digitalization of consular services, streamlining the process of issuing passports and the new electronic ID cards.

What does this mean for Moldovans living abroad?

  • A faster and more efficient way to obtain official documents.
  • Advanced biometric data collection technology.
  • Secure access to government services online via a qualified electronic signature.

Starting March 31, 2025, Moldovans abroad will be able to apply for the new electronic ID card—an EU-standard, secure document. With an integrated electronic signature, cardholders can access government services online without needing to visit a consulate.

“Modernizing and digitalizing consular services is a top priority. These technological advancements will make the process significantly easier for Moldovans in the diaspora,” said Mihai Mitu, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The consular network is also expanding, with more staff and the integration of digital solutions such as MPower, MDelivery, Web Officiu ASP, and MPay.

The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Moldova in Dnipro welcomes this important development, ensuring that Moldovans worldwide can access government services quickly, securely, and conveniently—no matter where they are.
