Between the 7th and 9th of November 2024, the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Ukraine, Valeriu Chiveri, and the Ambassador of Romania to Ukraine, Alexandru-Victor Micula, paid a working visit to the Chernivtsi region. On the first day, the heads of the diplomatic missions got acquainted with the conditions of activity of schools with Romanian teaching programs in the Marsinti and Dranitsa settlements, as well as visited the hospital in the Noua Suliță town, which benefited from funding from the Agency for International Cooperation for Development “RoAid”.
The second day began with a meeting with Ruslan Biloskurskyi, the rector of the Chernivtsi National University “Yurii Fedkovici”, followed by participation in the conference “Topical issues of Ukraine’s Foreign Policy”, organized by the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations of the above-mentioned university. In his address, Ambassador Valeriu Chiveri referred to the importance of European integration for the future of both states, including as a factor of regional stability and security.
The program continued with a meeting with the Head of the Regional State Military Administration of Chernivtsi, Ruslan Zaparaniuk, during which aspects of bilateral and trilateral cooperation in various fields were addressed. Later, the ambassadors met with the Executive Director of the Regional Office for Cross-Border Cooperation Suceava, as well as visited the Regional Children’s Hospital in Chernivtsi, partially rebuilt with the support of the Government of Romania.
On the last day, the diplomats participated in the closing event of the renovation of the middle school in the town of Cireș. The modernization/restauration of the educational institution with teaching in Romanian was possible with the contributions of the non-governmental organizations New Strategy Center, the “Romanian Ladies” society and the Consulate General of Romania in Chernivtsi.
The working visit to Chernivtsi was organized in cooperation with the Embassy of Romania in Ukraine and the Consulate General of Romania in Chernivtsi.
