Meeting Between the Minister of Culture of Moldova Sergiu Prodan and Ukraine’s Minister of Culture Mykola Tochytskyi!

On February 1st, in Uzhhorod, during the international conference “Cooperation for Resilience”, the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Moldova Sergiu Prodan met with Ukraine’s Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications, Mykola Tochytskyi.

The discussion focused on strengthening cultural ties between the two countries. One of the key topics was the development of joint theatrical projects involving dramatic and opera ensembles. Sergiu Prodan highlighted the growing popularity of Ukrainian theater performances in Moldova and the interest of Moldovan venues in collaborating with Ukrainian artists.

The ministers also explored opportunities in the publishing sector. Thanks to the initiatives “Ukrainian Bookshelf” and “Books without Borders” — carried out under the patronage of Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska — Moldovan libraries and schools have received a significant collection of Ukrainian books. This has led to the creation of nearly 70 dedicated book corners and a substantial expansion of Ukrainian-language collections.

Another important topic was translation and publication support for Ukrainian authors in Romanian and Moldovan authors in Ukrainian. The meeting underscored a shared commitment to fostering active cultural collaboration and mutual creative enrichment between the two nations.
