Reception on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova

On September 4th, the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Ukraine hosted a grand reception in Kyiv to commemorate Independence Day, Romanian Language Day, and National Army Day. This event served as a heartfelt tribute to all those who have fought for the national freedom and spiritual prosperity of our people. Moreover, organizing the celebration of the Republic of Moldova’s Day in the Ukrainian capital amidst wartime holds significant symbolic value. It serves as a powerful testament to our solidarity with Ukraine in its just struggle for freedom and a European future.

The event was attended by distinguished guests. These included heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Ukraine, military and security attachés, representatives of the Presidential Administration, the Verkhovna Rada, and the Cabinet of Ministers. Also in attendance were leaders from Kyiv Oblast and the city of Kyiv, experts, businesspeople, prominent cultural figures, renowned scientists, and our fellow citizens residing in Ukraine.

The event commenced with the performance of the national anthems of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. This was followed by a moment of silence to honor the Ukrainians who sacrificed their lives for their country’s freedom in the fight against Russian aggression. His Excellency, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Moldova to Ukraine, Valeriu Chiver, delivered a solemn address. He congratulated everyone on this important date in the history of the Republic of Moldova – the 33rd anniversary of building an independent state. He also expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian people for their active national stance, selflessness, and courage in the fight against the aggressor.

The Ambassador emphasized that Moldovans and Ukrainians understand the meaning of dignity. They know how to fight for their European ideals, protect their freedom, and realize the potential of bilateral partnership for a secure and prosperous future in a united Europe. In his speech, Yevhen Perebyinis, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, expressed sincere gratitude. He thanked the leadership and people of the Republic of Moldova for their invaluable support provided to the citizens of Ukraine in their struggle for freedom and independence. He also reaffirmed his country’s leadership’s readiness to continue cooperating with the Republic of Moldova to establish a climate of peace in the region. He emphasized sustainable development across the entire European continent.

Organized with the support of the Honorary Consulates of the Republic of Moldova in Ukraine, the event brought together over 250 distinguished guests. They joined the celebration, savoring the aroma of Moldovan wines and traditional snacks. This contributed to a refined atmosphere filled with empathy and openness to dialogue, in the spirit of the strong and traditional friendship between our states and peoples.
