Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian Meets with Ukraine’s Special Envoy Mark Shevchenko in Chișinău
On June 24, 2025, a high-level diplomatic meeting took place in Chișinău between the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration of the Republic of Moldova, H.E. Oleg Serebrian, and the Special Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, H.E. Mark Shevchenko, who represents Ukraine in the Transnistrian conflict resolution process. The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova, H.E. Paun Rohovei.
Bilateral Dialogue on Regional Security and the Transnistrian Settlement
During the official discussions, both sides reviewed recent developments in the Transnistrian region. They exchanged views on future steps to advance Moldova’s reintegration efforts. The conversation focused on regional security challenges and opportunities for deepened cooperation. Additionally, they discussed the evolving geopolitical context in Eastern Europe.
Special emphasis was placed on the strategic opportunities presented by Moldova and Ukraine’s current status as candidate countries for accession to the European Union. Both delegations acknowledged the importance of coordinated diplomacy. This is meant to promote peace, democratic values, and regional integration.
Joint Commitment to Stability, Reintegration, and Peaceful Conflict Resolution
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both governments to strengthening Moldova -Ukraine relations and enhancing bilateral coordination in resolving the Transnistrian conflict. The officials underscored the importance of sustained efforts aimed at:

Ambassador Mark Shevchenko reiterated Ukraine’s consistent and firm support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova within its internationally recognized borders. He emphasized Ukraine’s commitment to supporting a peaceful, negotiated resolution to the Transnistrian conflict. This support is in accordance with international law and European principles.
