Chișinău, April 18, 2025 – The Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Grosu, held an official meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Moldova, Paun Rohovei. They discussed strategic issues related to Ukraine–Moldova bilateral relations.
Enhancing Ukraine–Moldova Bilateral Relations
The meeting focused on deepening the cooperation between Ukraine and Moldova across key areas. These include strengthening interparliamentary dialogue, implementing joint development projects, and enhancing coordination in national and regional security.
Addressing Regional Security and Hybrid Threats
Special attention was devoted to the current security situation in Ukraine and the wider region, particularly in light of growing hybrid threats from the Russian Federation. This is ahead of Moldova’s upcoming parliamentary elections. Both parties emphasized the need for enhanced resilience and united action in facing external destabilizing factors.
Ukraine Expresses Gratitude to Moldova for Humanitarian Support
Ambassador Paun Rohovei conveyed Ukraine’s heartfelt gratitude to the Government and people of the Republic of Moldova. This was for their humanitarian assistance and support provided to Ukrainian citizens during the full-scale Russian invasion.
Shared Commitment to European Integration and Strategic Partnership
Speaker Igor Grosu highlighted the positive dynamics of Ukraine–Moldova relations. He reaffirmed Moldova’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in economic development, infrastructure modernization, and the shared goal of European integration. Both sides confirmed their willingness to closely coordinate on international platforms to defend mutual interests and reinforce democratic values.
