On June 17, 2026, the Government of the Republic of Moldova officially approved the appointment of Alexei Țurcan as Consul General of the Republic of Moldova in Odesa, Ukraine.

Alexei Țurcan Brings More Than 25 Years of Diplomatic and Consular Experience
Alexei Țurcan is a highly experienced career diplomat with more than 25 years of service in the field of diplomacy and consular affairs.
Throughout his professional career, he has held numerous senior positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova and diplomatic missions abroad, playing an important role in the modernization of Moldova’s consular system and the protection of the rights and interests of Moldovan citizens overseas.
His extensive diplomatic experience includes assignments at the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the Republic of Türkiye and the Russian Federation. He also served as Consul at the Consulate General of the Republic of Moldova in Istanbul and held the position of Consul General of the Republic of Moldova in Iași, Romania, from 2018 to 2023.
Senior Leadership Experience within Moldova’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs
During his tenure at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Alexei Țurcan occupied several key leadership positions, including:
● Head of the Directorate for Consular Law and Relations;
● Head of the Public Relations Directorate;
● Head of the Bilateral Relations Division within the Consular Affairs Directorate.
His professional background combines extensive expertise in consular administration, public diplomacy, bilateral cooperation, and citizen services.
Since March 2025, Mr. Țurcan has been serving at the Consulate General of the Republic of Moldova in Odesa. Since April 2025, he has been acting as Head of Mission, overseeing the institution’s diplomatic and consular activities.
