Government of Moldova and the Moldovan Diaspora Join Forces to Invest in Community Development Across the Country

The Government of the Republic of Moldova has approved funding for 33 local development projects under the 2026 edition of the «Diaspora Succeeds at Home (DAR 1+3)» Programme, reaffirming its commitment to sustainable community development and strengthening cooperation with the Moldovan diaspora worldwide.

The decision was adopted during a meeting of the Government of Moldova, with a total allocation of 10 million lei in non-reimbursable funding. The investment will support infrastructure modernization, public services, energy efficiency, and community development initiatives designed to improve the quality of life for citizens throughout the Republic of Moldova.

Priority Areas for Local Development in Moldova

The projects selected under the DAR 1+3 Programme focus on key sectors that contribute to the long-term development and resilience of local communities.

Funding will support:
● construction and rehabilitation of roads and pedestrian infrastructure;
● expansion and modernization of public street lighting systems;
● implementation of energy-efficiency projects;
● development and modernization of water supply and sewerage networks;
● procurement of equipment and machinery for local public authorities and communities;
● renovation and modernization of educational and cultural institutions.

These investments are expected to improve public infrastructure, increase access to essential services, and create more attractive living conditions across Moldova’s towns and villages.

DAR 1+3 Programme: Strengthening Moldova Through Diaspora Engagement

The «Diaspora Succeeds at Home (DAR 1+3)» Programme remains one of the Republic of Moldova’s most successful initiatives for engaging the Moldovan diaspora in local development projects.

The programme is based on a partnership model that combines contributions from diaspora members, local public authorities, development partners, and government institutions. This collaborative approach enables communities to implement projects that directly address local priorities and development needs.

Through DAR 1+3, communities throughout Moldova have gained access to investments that support modernization, economic development, social inclusion, and improved public services.

Investing in the Future of Moldova’s Communities

The approval of 33 new projects under the 2026 DAR 1+3 Programme highlights the Government of Moldova’s ongoing efforts to support local development, strengthen community resilience, and maintain strong connections with Moldovan citizens living abroad.

By investing in infrastructure, energy efficiency, education, culture, and public services, the Republic of Moldova continues to create opportunities for sustainable growth and improve the quality of life in communities across the country.

The DAR 1+3 Programme demonstrates how cooperation between the state, local authorities, development partners, and the Moldovan diaspora can generate meaningful and lasting benefits for communities throughout the Republic of Moldova.
