Chișinău, August 4, 2025 – A high-level diplomatic meeting took place in the capital of the Republic of Moldova. State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova, Sergiu Mihov, held official talks with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova, Paun Rohovei.
The meeting focused on key priorities of Moldovan – Ukrainian relations. These priorities include the strengthening of bilateral cooperation, advancement of cross-border infrastructure, and current regional security challenges.
Moldova: A Reliable Security Partner for Ukraine
During the meeting, both sides engaged in an in-depth discussion on regional security. They also discussed joint efforts to counter hybrid threats emanating from the Russian Federation. Moldova reaffirmed its unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Particular attention was given to enhancing cooperation within international and regional formats. These formats remain essential for promoting lasting stability across the Black Sea region.
Upgrading Border Infrastructure and Joint Projects
A separate part of the dialogue addressed infrastructure development between Moldova and Ukraine. Discussions included the modernization of border crossing points and improvement of transport connectivity. Additionally, they discussed implementation of joint infrastructure projects of strategic importance to both countries.
These initiatives aim to enhance economic cooperation, optimize logistics corridors, and improve the efficiency of border control mechanisms.
Ukraine Expresses Gratitude for Moldova’s Steadfast Support
Ambassador Rohovei expressed sincere appreciation to the Moldovan side for its consistent and principled support amidst the ongoing Russian aggression. Moldova continues to play a key role as a trusted partner of Ukraine. This is crucial on its path toward European integration and in safeguarding regional security.
Bilateral Cooperation Remains a Shared Priority
Both Sergiu Mihov and Paun Rohovei reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the strategic partnership between the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. This partnership is grounded in shared values and respect for international law. It also involves a joint responsibility to ensure peace and security in the region.
