Antalya, Türkiye – Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova have reaffirmed their strategic partnership during a series of high-level diplomatic meetings held on the sidelines of international events in Antalya, highlighting cooperation on regional security, European integration, and justice mechanisms for war crimes.
Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha held separate talks with the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Moldova, Mihai Popșoi.
Ukraine – Moldova Security Dialogue and Support for Ukraine
During the meeting with President Maia Sandu, the Ukrainian side provided an updated briefing on the current battlefield situation, underscoring Ukraine’s resilience and its continued ability to defend its positions.
The discussions also focused on the impact of large-scale Russian missile and drone strikes targeting Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure. Ukraine expressed deep appreciation to Moldova for its consistent political support and unwavering solidarity.
Council of Europe Meeting in Chișinău and Special Tribunal Initiative
The two sides placed significant emphasis on preparations for the upcoming Council of Europe Committee of Ministers meeting, scheduled for 14 – 15 May in Chișinău.
The meeting is expected to contribute to advancing the establishment of a Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine, a key international accountability mechanism aimed at ensuring justice for violations of international law.
Ukraine – Moldova Cooperation: European Integration and Regional Stability
In a separate bilateral meeting with Mihai Popșoi, both parties reaffirmed the strength of the Ukraine – Moldova strategic partnership and outlined priority areas of cooperation.
Key areas of focus included:
● European integration of Ukraine and Moldova;
● strengthening Black Sea regional security;
● energy cooperation and resilience;
● expansion of transport connectivity;
● cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
Both sides also emphasized the importance of sustained international support for Ukraine and continued strengthening of sanctions pressure against the Russian Federation.

Ukraine and Moldova continue to demonstrate a unified strategic vision for regional security and European integration. Both countries stressed that achieving a just and lasting peace in Ukraine remains a fundamental prerequisite for long-term stability and security across the Black Sea region and Europe as a whole.
