On July 12, 2025, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Mihai Popșoi, participated in the ministerial meeting «Ukraine – Southeast Europe», held in Dubrovnik, Croatia. The event was organized within the framework of the 2025 Dubrovnik Forum. It brought together foreign ministers from Southeast European countries to discuss consolidated regional efforts to support Ukraine’s sovereignty. They also aimed to contribute to its post-war recovery.
During his official address, Minister Popșoi unequivocally condemned the ongoing military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. He highlighted the severe humanitarian crisis, widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure, and growing threats to regional peace and stability.
“In these circumstances, Ukraine requires the full and continued support of the international community to resist aggression. At the same time, the accession of both the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine to the European Union represents not only a shared strategic objective but also a foundation for ensuring long-term peace. Furthermore, it provides security and prosperity for our nations and the entire European continent,” stated Minister Popșoi.
The Foreign Minister reaffirmed Moldova’s firm support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also underlined the critical role of enhanced regional cooperation. This is crucial in responding to shared geopolitical challenges and security threats in Southeast Europe.
Joint Declaration in Support of Ukraine
The ministerial meeting concluded with the adoption of a joint political declaration. This underscored the unity and solidarity of Southeast European countries with Ukraine. It also reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Ukraine’s European path and post-conflict reconstruction.
