High-Level Meeting in Chișinău
On April 16, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development of the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Vladimir Bolea, held an official meeting in Chișinău. He met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Moldova, Mr. Paun Rohovei.
Advancing Bilateral Infrastructure Cooperation
The meeting focused on strengthening infrastructure cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. Particular attention was given to two key European initiatives: the European Commission’s Solidarity Lanes and Ukraine’s humanitarian program Grain from Ukraine. These initiatives are essential for ensuring the uninterrupted export of Ukrainian agricultural products to international markets via Moldova’s transit routes.
Railway Modernization and Transit Optimization
Discussions also covered the modernization of cross-border railway infrastructure and the need to enhance the capacity and efficiency of transit corridors. Minister Bolea emphasized the strategic importance of deepening collaboration in the railway sector. He also highlighted the mutual benefits of revisiting tariff policies for transit transportation.
Moldova’s Role as a Strategic Transit Hub
Amid continued attacks on Ukraine’s port infrastructure along the Danube and the Black Sea, alternative logistics routes through the Republic of Moldova to Romanian ports have become increasingly vital. Moldova reaffirms its role as a stable and reliable transit partner. It is committed to supporting Ukraine’s access to global markets.
Strategic Partnership for a Shared Future
Infrastructure development between Moldova and Ukraine extends beyond logistics. It reflects a long-term strategic partnership based on unity, resilience, and a shared vision for regional stability and European integration. Both nations remain committed to advancing collaborative projects that contribute to prosperity and connectivity across Eastern Europe.
