Moldova Exports Grow by 11.4% in 2026, Strengthening the Country’s Position in International Markets

The Republic of Moldova recorded strong export growth during the first five months of 2026. From January to May, Moldova’s exports of goods reached €1,376.5 million, an increase of 11.4% compared with the same period of 2025.

The latest figures highlight the expanding presence of Moldovan products in international markets, the growing competitiveness of domestic producers, and the continued diversification of Moldova’s export destinations.

Moldova Exports Increase by 11.4% in January – May 2026

Moldova’s foreign trade continued to show positive momentum in the first five months of 2026. Exports of goods reached €1,376.5 million, up 11.4% year on year.

The increase reflects Moldova’s expanding export potential and the ability of Moldovan producers and businesses to strengthen their position in foreign markets. Diversification across both export destinations and product categories also contributes to the resilience and long-term development of the country’s external trade.

Germany and Belgium Lead Growth in Moldovan Exports

Between January and May 2026, Moldovan exports increased across a wide range of international markets.

The strongest growth was recorded in exports to Germany, which rose by 68.1%, followed by Belgium with an increase of 53.7%.

Exports also increased significantly to Kazakhstan by 26.6%, Italy and Türkiye by 24.6% each, Bulgaria by 18.9%, Poland by 11.5%, and France by 8.5%.

Positive results were also recorded in trade with Romania and Czechia, where exports increased by 6.3%, as well as Belarus, with growth of 4.9%.

Moldovan exports to Ukraine increased by 2.1%, reflecting continued positive dynamics in bilateral trade between the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.

The geographical diversity of this growth demonstrates the expanding presence of Moldovan goods across European and other international markets.

Which Products Are Driving Moldova’s Export Growth in 2026?

Export growth was supported by strong performance across several major product categories.

The largest increase was recorded in raw hides, skins, leather and fur, with exports rising by 97.0%.

Exports of vegetable products increased by 37.0%, while footwear exports grew by 36.6%. Animal or vegetable fats and oils recorded growth of 34.6%, and exports of base metals and related products increased by 28.7%.

Growth across multiple sectors highlights the diversification of Moldova’s export economy and the capacity of national businesses to identify new opportunities and compete in international markets.
