On October 23rd, Ambassador V. Chiver undertook a working visit to the Sumy region. During the visit, a series of meetings were held with officials and heads of regional institutions. A meeting with the head of the Sumy Regional Military-Civil Administration, Volodymyr Artyukh, provided an opportunity to exchange views on the developing situation in the region in the context of Russian aggression. People’s Deputies of Ukraine Mykhailo Ananchenko and Anton Svatchko, as well as the Chairman of the Regional Council Oleksiy Romanenko, also participated in the meeting. The visit’s program also included meetings with the head of the Sumy Regional Police and a visit to the state university. Additionally, the head of the mission familiarized himself with the activities of the Center for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation for Children and visited other civilian facilities in the city that had been destroyed by Russian bombings. The event was organized with the assistance of the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Moldova in Sumy, Emil Nuriyev, who also delivered a package of humanitarian aid, including medicines, food, and clothing. The visit to Sumy, a city located near the frontline, is a sign of support and solidarity from the Republic of Moldova with the Ukrainian people, who are fighting for their freedom and independence.
