Moldova Reaffirms Its Unwavering Support for Ukraine and Expands Strategic Bilateral Cooperation
Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Vasile Tofan held a high-level telephone conversation with Sergii Koretskyi, Prime Minister of Ukraine, reaffirming the strong strategic partnership between the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. The leaders discussed key priorities for bilateral cooperation, including infrastructure development, transport connectivity, environmental protection, economic cooperation, and regional security.
The discussion highlighted the shared commitment of both governments to strengthening Moldova–Ukraine relations while advancing practical initiatives that benefit citizens, businesses, and regional stability.
The Republic of Moldova Reaffirms Its Support for Ukraine
During the conversation, Prime Minister Vasile Tofan reiterated the Republic of Moldova’s unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and resilience in the face of Russia’s ongoing aggression.
«The Republic of Moldova will continue to stand with Ukraine, just as it has from the very first day. We are deeply grateful to the Ukrainian people for their courage, resilience, and determination. Today, Ukraine is defending not only its own freedom but also the security of our entire region», Prime Minister Vasile Tofan stated.
This position once again underscores Moldova’s consistent solidarity with the Ukrainian people and reflects the shared commitment of both countries to peace, regional security, democratic values, and a common European future.
Advancing Practical Cooperation for Citizens and Businesses
Beyond security issues, the Prime Ministers focused on several practical areas of bilateral cooperation designed to strengthen economic development and improve the well-being of citizens in both countries.
A key priority was the responsible management of the Dniester River’s water resources amid prolonged drought conditions and critically low water levels in the Dniester Reservoir. Both sides agreed to enhance coordination and implement joint measures aimed at protecting the environment and ensuring sustainable water resource management.
Developing Cross-Border Infrastructure and Transport Connectivity
The leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the Cosăuți – Yampil Bridge project, one of the most important cross-border infrastructure initiatives between the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.
The future bridge is expected to significantly improve border crossing procedures, strengthen transport connectivity, facilitate trade and logistics, and create new opportunities for economic cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.
Railway cooperation was another important topic on the agenda. The Prime Ministers discussed improving the transportation of Ukrainian grain to the Port of Constanța, modernising regional transport infrastructure, and strengthening coordination between the railway authorities of both countries to enhance regional logistics and supply chains.
Strengthening the Moldova – Ukraine Strategic Partnership
The Republic of Moldova and Ukraine continue to deepen their bilateral partnership based on mutual trust, respect, solidarity, and shared European aspirations. Joint infrastructure, transport, environmental, and economic projects will contribute to sustainable economic growth, stronger regional security, and greater prosperity for citizens in both countries.
