Honouring the Victims of Russia’s Full-Scale War Against Ukraine
As part of the official programme, the Moldovan delegation visited Lukianivska Metro Station in Kyiv, which suffered extensive damage during Russian missile attacks targeting civilian infrastructure.
The delegation witnessed the consequences of the ongoing war and expressed solidarity with the Ukrainian people, who continue to defend their country while enduring the devastating humanitarian impact of Russia’s aggression.
Mihai Popșoi, Andrii Sybiha, and members of the diplomatic corps also visited Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square), where they paid tribute to Ukrainian service members and civilians who sacrificed their lives defending Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and freedom.
Mihai Popșoi: “We Remain United in Defending Peace, Freedom, and International Law”
During the commemorative ceremony, Mihai Popșoi emphasized that Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine has, for five consecutive years, continued to claim innocent lives, destroy cities and villages, separate families, and force millions of people to flee their homes.
«For the fifth consecutive year, this unprovoked war of aggression has continued to take lives, separate families, and destroy villages and cities. The portraits displayed here at Independence Square remind us of the courage and dedication of those who defended their homeland – people who sacrificed their lives so that Ukraine could remain free.
The resilience of the Ukrainian people contributes directly to the security of the Republic of Moldova and of Europe as a whole. This war must come to an end. We stand in solidarity with Ukraine and remain united in defending peace, freedom, international law, and every nation’s sovereign right to determine its own future», Mihai Popșoi stated.
