Chișinău, November 1, 2025 – The newly appointed Government of the Republic of Moldova, headed by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, officially took the oath of office at the Presidential Palace in Chișinău. The solemn ceremony was attended by President Maia Sandu and Speaker of Parliament Igor Grosu.
Commitment to Citizens and the European Path
In her address, President Maia Sandu
congratulated the new Cabinet and emphasized that its primary mission is to continue advancing the modernization and European transformation of the Republic of Moldova.
The President underscored the importance of implementing key national reforms. These include justice, education, energy security, and administrative-territorial governance. She also highlighted the need to pursue state programs focused on infrastructure development. Additionally, the modernization of hospitals and schools, waste management improvement, and large-scale afforestation initiatives were emphasized.
«We must act decisively to foster economic growth, attract investment, and enhance competitiveness. Only by doing so can we improve the quality of life for Moldovan citizens. We must seize the historic opportunity offered by European integration», – stated President Maia Sandu.
The Composition of the New Cabinet of Ministers
The Government of Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu comprises 14 ministries, including:
● the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization,
● the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development,
● the Ministry of Education,
● the Ministry of Health,
● the Ministry of Energy,
● the Ministry of Justice,
● the Ministry of Finance,
● the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection,
● the Ministry of Defense,
● the Ministry of Internal Affairs,
● the Ministry of Culture,
● the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry,
● the Ministry of Environment, and
● the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Each ministry has been assigned strategic priorities aimed at deepening structural reforms and improving public administration. Additionally, they focus on strengthening Moldova’s international partnerships. The newly appointed ministers have already assumed their responsibilities and begun implementing the Government’s reform agenda.
A Step Toward Stability, Reform, and European Integration
The Cabinet of Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu was approved by the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova with 55 votes in favor. The Government’s Program of Activities defines a series of priority directions. These include modernization of the economy and digital transformation of public services. Furthermore, the development of infrastructure and enhancement of energy independence, as well as the reform of education and healthcare systems are included. Additionally, strengthening the social protection framework and improving citizens’ quality of life are priorities. Finally, consolidation of democratic institutions and advancement of European integration are defined.
